I get
this question a lot. Whats the difference.Well the difference is that satellite
is a dish that feeds only one house with multiple boxes.Cable will feed a
entire community or neighborhood. Some areas might feed as many as 50 homes or
may feed as many as 400 homes depending on the system design. There is a
difference between cable and satellite. That would be the basic way of looking
at the differences.
Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is a system where a digital
television service is delivered using Internet Protocol over a network
infrastructure, which may include delivery by a broadband connection. A general
definition of IPTV is television content that, instead of being delivered
through traditional broadcast and cable formats, is received by the viewer
through the technologies used for computer networks.
For residential users, IPTV is often provided in
conjunction with Video on Demand and may be bundled with Internet services such
as Web access and VoIP. The commercial bundling of IPTV, VoIP and Internet
access is referred to as "Triple Play" service .There are other
services that you may recognize is Sky Angel or NetFlix is another .Probably
the easy and probably the simplest way to understand is when you watch a movie
online .The cable industry is moving towards new thing's every year.
Video on Demand is a great service if you can
access this in your area it should be used .I find that alot of customers
do not even use this service. This is a service where you can watch movies ,look
for cars, homes and jobs.Depending on the service in your area.Check your service
provider and check it out. Voip (voice over internet protocol) or phone over internet. This is a great service, but it will only work with hi-speed internet service. There are a lot of great service's out there .I would do research on this service because some do not offer 911. To find our more about VoIP service, see the FCC’s consumer fact sheet at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/voip911.html
